This show marked a transitional period in my evolution as a painter. From implied texture now I begin working the surface in very heavy impastos, even given more viscosity due to additions of texture mediums. My glazing in the top layers has been left off, although the very first layers still have texture embedded under heavy isolation coats. This little gem is one of my first horizonscapes. It was painted and first shown for City Art Gallery's (Greenville, NC) Applewhite Invitational, inspired by poetry by James Applewhite.
